Introduction

Requirements

  • Access to a windows server or desktop by a remote connection or by keyboard
  • An Internet connection
  • Roughly 600MB of free space

Installation

  1. Open a command prompt (by clicking start, then run, then typing in cmd and clicking ok)
  2. Navigate to C:\ by typing:
    cd \
  3. Create a new directory by typing the following command:
    mkdir hlds_l
  4. Move to this directory by typing the following:
    cd hlds_l
  5. Download this file and place it in the directory you created above
  6. Now run this file by typing:
    hldsupdatetool
    You should receive a response such as:
    Checking bootstrapper version ...
  7. Start the installation (Note: to install condition zero change cstrike to czero and to install Day of Defeat change cstrike to dod):
    hldsupdatetool -command update -game cstrike -dir .
  8. After this command you should see a message like:
    No installation record found at hlds_l
  9. To start your server type:
    hlds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust -autoupdate
